Co-Compassion
Frequently asked questions
Compassionate Inquiry™, trauma-informed art therapy, languages, online versus in person, and how to begin.
What is Compassionate Inquiry™?
Compassionate Inquiry™ is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that gently reveals what lies beneath the surface of a person’s behaviour, emotions and physical symptoms. It helps you recognise the unconscious dynamics and early imprints of trauma that shape how you relate to yourself and others, so you can release their grip in a safe, compassionate space.
What can Compassionate Inquiry™ therapy help with?
Compassionate Inquiry™ can help with the effects of developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences, grief, chronic stress, anxiety, and patterns of relating that limit your life. Rather than only treating symptoms, it works with their root causes, supporting healing and greater self-awareness, resilience and freedom. It is used with adults, youth and children, and complements other forms of therapy.
Do you offer therapy online or in person, and in which languages?
We offer therapy both online via Zoom and in person in Stockholm (Artillerigatan 97). Sessions are available in Swedish, English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian, so you can work in the language you feel most comfortable in. Our therapists support clients across several countries, making our trauma-informed care accessible wherever you are.
What is trauma-informed art therapy?
Trauma-informed art therapy uses the nonverbal language of art to access thoughts, emotions and experiences that can be hard to put into words. Guided within a safe, trauma-aware framework, it becomes a pathway to insight and personal growth. At Co-Compassion it can be combined with Compassionate Inquiry™ to help you embody and integrate the therapeutic process.
How do I get started with therapy at Co-Compassion?
Getting started is simple: send us an email or a WhatsApp message from the contact page. We will match you with a therapist based on your needs, language and whether you prefer online or in-person sessions. Your first session focuses on creating a safe, compassionate space at your own pace.
