Trauma-Informed Art Therapy

By using the nonverbal language of art, trauma-informed art therapy creates a gentle path towards personal growth and self-discovery. It lets us weave together the many threads of our life story, connecting bodily senses, thoughts and emotions into an integrated experience of ourselves, and rediscover the strength and resilience we hold within.

Movement, shape and imagery communicate in ways that words often cannot. The transformative power of this approach lies in its capacity to translate our inner experience into a shape, movement or composition outside of ourselves — so we can observe, understand and integrate that experience from a new perspective.

Art therapy and expressive arts therapy have proven particularly effective for early developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences and post-traumatic stress, as well as difficult life transitions and grief — allowing traumatic memories to be sensory-processed, integrated and reframed into a restorative new inner narrative.

Discover the integrative power of art, drawn from both ancestral traditions and contemporary trauma-informed practice, in a compassionate therapeutic space.
